Tod's and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design have teamed up to to create a dedicated online platform that highlights burgeoning fashion talents.
Aptly called 'Tod's Legacy' the student project which was launched at the start of this years London Fashion Week will allow students to benefit from scholarships and mentoring from prestigious figures of the industry. 35 emerging designers chosen by Central Saint Martins took part in the project and were asked to reimagine Tod's iconic accessories, including the Gommino Loafer, the Timeless T, and the D-Bag.
During the course, each of the students were paired with one of 26 fashion industry professionals (Carla Sozzani, Roksanda Ilincic, Hamish Bowles, Simone Rocha) so as to bring a real world point of view to their work. From noted designers, editors, and stylists, to critics, and talent scouts, the program sought to bring a fresh perspective to its stable of styles.
'This is a beautiful project that supports students and at the same time brings unusual and innovative points of view to Tod's,'
said Diego Della Valle President of Tod's in a statement.
Launched as a laboratory of ideas and an incubator for innovative projects, providing opportunities to up and coming talents, Tod's Academy was created to pass down time-honored techniques to a whole new generation by blending heritage with an ever-growing, modern and personal point of view.
