Kim Jones is Fendi\'s new Creative Director

Italian fashion house Fendi has appointed acclaimed menswear designer Kim Jones as its Artistic Director.

The 46-year-old British Designer who replaces Karl Lagerfeld who died in February of last year will oversee Fendi haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur for women. He will work closely with Silvia Venturini Fendi, the third generation of the Fendi family who has been running the creative side of the fashion label and designs accessories and menswear collections.

Born in West London, and raised in Kenya, Jones graduated from the renowned London art-and-design school Central Saint Martins. In 2003 Jones launched his eponymous line at London Fashion Week. He made a name for himself with his menswear collections for Dior Homme since 2018 and Louis Vuitton for seven years (2011 to 2018). Prior to that in 2008, he became creative director of Alfred Dunhill.

'I would like to profoundly thank Monsieur Arnault, Pietro Beccari, Serge Brunschwig, and Silvia Venturini Fendi for this incredible opportunity. Working across two such prestigious houses is a true honor as a designer and to be able to join the house of Fendi as well as continuing my work at Dior Men's is a huge privilege,' Jones said of his appointment.

'Kim Jones is a great talent and since joining, he has continuously proven his ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the LVMH houses while revisiting them with great modernity and audacity. At Fendi, I am convinced that his vision and passion will highly contribute to the success of the women's collections,' Bernault Arnault CEO of LVMH said in a statement.

'I am thrilled to welcome Kim Jones at Fendi. Kim is one of the most talented and relevant designers of today. With Silvia Venturini Fendi, who has virtuously carried on Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld legacy, Kim will bring his contemporary one of a kind point of view into the world of Fendi,' Serge Brunschwig, Fendi's Chairman and CEO added.

'My warmest welcome to Kim, to whom I am bound by deep respect and friendship. I am looking forward to take the Fendi universe to the next level with him,' Silvia Fendi, Artistic Director of Fendi accessories and menswear, stated.

Jones will also maintain his role as Artistic Director of Dior Men in Paris. He will present his first Fendi ready-to-wear collection for Fall/Winter 2021-22 season during Milan Fashion Week in February 2021.
