Diego Della Valle
Tod's Group is an Italian company which produces shoes and other leather goods, and is presided over by businessman Diego Della Valle. It is most famous for its driving shoes.
Dorino Della Valle started the shoemaking business out of a basement in the late 1920s. Diego Della Valle, Dorino's elder son, expanded the workshop and turned it into a factory that started manufacturing shoes for American department stores in the 1970s.
In the late 70s, Mr. Della Valle launched the signature shoe, a luxury moccasin GOMMINO with 133 rubber pebbles on the sole as a trademark. It was the epitome of an ideal: that of a casual, handmade shoe, perfect for every occasion. In 1977, Diego Della Valle expanded his vision to bags, creating a collection in touch with the spirit of the brand: quality-minded and attentive to design.
Diego brought in innovative marketing strategies in the early 1980s, kept the handmade manufacturing process and went on to create brands of lifestyle named Tod's, Hogan and Fay. Roger Vivier, maker of high luxury shoes was acquired in the mid1990s and developed starting the beginning of this Millennium.
From its headquarters in the central Italian region of the Marche to its worldwide boutiques, Tods is present from New York to Tokyo, Milan to Los Angeles, London to Dubai, and continues to expand its stores around the world.
