Tanja Tremel is a German photographer and visual artist based in Berlin. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Born in 1979, Tanja grew up in a small village near Munich, Germany. From an early age, she was drawn to the beauty of nature and the power of photography. She studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, where she developed her own style of photography that combines documentary and fine art elements.

After graduating, Tanja moved to Berlin to pursue her career as a professional photographer. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including Vogue, GQ, Elle, and The New York Times Magazine. She has also exhibited her work at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

In addition to her commercial work, Tanja is passionate about creating personal projects that explore themes such as identity, memory, and belonging. Her projects have taken her around the world from India to South Africa to Cuba. Through her photographs she seeks to capture moments that are both intimate and universal.

Tanja’s work has been recognized with numerous awards including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Best Documentary Series (2015) and the Sony World Photography Award for Best Single Image (2016). In 2017 she was named one of PDN’s 30 Emerging Photographers To Watch.

Today Tanja continues to create powerful images that challenge viewers to look beyond what they see on the surface and explore deeper truths about our world.
