Gian Paolo Barbieri (born April 8, 1942) is an Italian fashion photographer who has been shooting for magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle since the 1960s. He is known for his iconic images of models and celebrities, often featuring bold colors and dramatic lighting.

Born in Milan, Italy, Barbieri began his career as a photographer in the early 1960s. He quickly gained recognition for his work with Italian fashion magazines such as Grazia and Moda. In the 1970s he began to work with international publications such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. His work was characterized by its use of bold colors and dramatic lighting, which helped to create a sense of drama in his images.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Barbieri continued to shoot for major fashion publications around the world. He also worked with some of the most famous models of the time including Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Claudia Schiffer. His work was featured in numerous advertising campaigns for brands such as Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, and Yves Saint Laurent.

In addition to his fashion photography career Barbieri has also published several books including Gian Paolo Barbieri: The Art of Fashion Photography (1995), Gian Paolo Barbieri: The Best of Fashion Photography (1998), and Gian Paolo Barbieri: A Life in Pictures (2003). He has also been featured in several documentaries about photography including The Art of Seeing (2005) and The Eye Has To Travel (2012).

Barbieri continues to shoot for major fashion publications today while also working on personal projects that explore themes such as beauty and femininity. His work has been exhibited around the world including at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and at the International Center of Photography in New York City.
