Born in Seoul in 1975, Sung-Ryung Kim developed a passion for photography at an early age. She studied photography at the prestigious Seoul Institute of the Arts, where she graduated with honors in 1998. After graduation, she began working as a freelance photographer and quickly gained recognition for her unique style of capturing everyday life in South Korea.

In 2003, Sung-Ryung Kim was awarded the prestigious Korean Photographers Association Award for her work on a series of photographs depicting traditional Korean culture. This award helped to launch her career as a professional photographer and she has since gone on to exhibit her work at galleries and museums around the world. Her photographs have also been featured in publications such as National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, and The Guardian.
