Born in New York City in 1975, Stewart Shining developed an early interest in photography. He began taking pictures of his family and friends at a young age and soon realized that he had a passion for capturing moments on film. After graduating high school, he attended the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where he studied photography and fine art.

After college, Stewart Shining began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work was quickly recognized by the industry and he was soon hired by National Geographic Magazine as a staff photographer. During his time with National Geographic, Stewart traveled to some of the most remote places on earth to capture stunning images of wildlife and landscapes. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Guardian, and many more.

In addition to his editorial work, Stewart Shining has also created several books featuring his photographs from around the world. His books have been praised for their unique perspectives on nature and culture as well as their stunning visuals. He has also exhibited his work at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
