Russell James is an Australian fashion photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist. He is best known for his work in the fashion industry, having shot campaigns for some of the world’s most iconic brands including Victoria’s Secret, Chanel, and Balmain.

James was born in Perth, Australia in 1971. He began his career as a photographer at the age of 18 when he moved to Sydney to pursue a career in photography. After working as an assistant to several photographers, he eventually established himself as a freelance photographer and began shooting for magazines such as Vogue Australia and Harper’s Bazaar.

In 1997, James moved to New York City where he continued to work as a fashion photographer. His work soon caught the attention of major fashion houses such as Gucci and Versace who hired him to shoot their campaigns. In addition to his commercial work, James has also shot editorial campaigns for publications such as Vogue Italia and W Magazine.

In recent years, James has expanded his portfolio to include filmmaking and visual art projects. His first feature-length film was Angels & Demons (2009), which was nominated for several awards including Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival. He has since directed several other films including Nomad Two Worlds (2010) and The American Dream (2012). In addition to his film work, James has also created several art installations which have been exhibited around the world.

James currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. He continues to shoot fashion campaigns while also pursuing his passion for filmmaking and visual art projects.
