Louise Damgaard is a Danish photographer and visual artist based in Copenhagen. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Born in Copenhagen in 1975, Louise developed an interest in photography at an early age. She studied photography at the Danish School of Photography, where she graduated with honors in 1998. After graduation, she began working as a freelance photographer, shooting for magazines and newspapers around the world.

In 2003, Louise was awarded the prestigious Hasselblad Award for her work on the series “The City of Light” which explored the beauty of Copenhagen through its architecture and people. This series was exhibited at galleries around Europe and was also published as a book.

Since then, Louise has continued to explore themes of identity, place, and belonging through her photography. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Vogue Italia, and National Geographic. She has also exhibited her work at galleries around Europe including Tate Modern in London and Fotografiska in Stockholm.

Louise’s work is characterized by its strong sense of composition and use of light to create atmosphere. Her photographs often capture moments that are both intimate and mysterious; moments that evoke emotion from viewers while still leaving room for interpretation.

In addition to her photographic practice, Louise also works as a lecturer at various universities across Europe where she teaches courses on photography theory and practice. She is also an active member of several international photography organizations such as World Press Photo and Magnum Photos.
