About

Frescobol Carioca, a brand that embodies the spirit of Rio, was born from the cultural richness and vibrant lifestyle of Brazil's most famous city. The concept of the brand originates from a popular bat and ball game named Frescobol, invented in 1945 by Lian Pontes de Carvalho. The goal was to find new ways to enjoy the beach, which led to the creation of wooden bats and a stripped-back tennis ball. This game became a staple at the beaches of Posto 5, marking the birth of Frescobol.

The term "Carioca" is used to describe the natives of Rio de Janeiro, and over time, it has evolved to embody the Brazilian way of life, defined by a playful and spirited character. This cultural essence forms the bedrock of Frescobol Carioca's ethos and principles.

Fast-forward a few decades, and the founders of Frescobol Carioca, Harry and Max, found themselves playing a game of Frescobol on the beaches of France’s west coast. The beauty of the beach bats and the allure of the game piqued the interest of passersby. They couldn't help but stop, stare, and ask questions. This moment of intrigue marked the realization that a unique aspect of Rio's culture had been introduced to another part of the world. Consequently, the idea of Frescobol Carioca was conceived, providing a way to share the spirit of Rio with the world.

The brand officially launched in 2013 and has since continued to grow, expand, and diversify. Initially, Frescobol Carioca introduced three swimwear silhouettes with prints inspired by the mosaic boardwalks of Rio's iconic beaches. It then broadened its scope to include full resort wear collections. More recently, the brand has integrated loungewear pieces into its product line. Throughout these transformations, Frescobol Carioca has remained committed to delivering quality products that reflect the lively and vibrant culture of Rio.
