About

Fred de la Bretoniere, a name synonymous with timeless elegance, emerged from Amsterdam in 1971. The founder, Frederik Cornelis de la Bretoniere, a skilled shoe and bag designer, opened his first store in Spuistraat, Amsterdam that same year. His unique designs, particularly a type of Swedish clogs known as "maatklompen," quickly gained notoriety in 1972. The shoes were distinctive, featuring upper leather nailed directly onto the wooden sole.

Fred de la Bretoniere's dedication to his craft led to him being named the best shoe and bag designer in the Netherlands in 1976. As the brand continued to flourish, multiple store locations were opened, solidifying its presence in the fashion industry. The company further expanded its portfolio in 2004 by adding the brand Shabbies-Amsterdam to the Bretoniere Group B.V.

The brand's philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief in the power and uniqueness of every woman. Fred de la Bretoniere aims to highlight this individuality by creating iconic designs that exude a casually elegant look. The designs serve to underscore the strong personality of a woman, giving her confidence and beauty. Every design is a testament to a deep love for shoemaking craftsmanship and an excellent eye for detail.

The brand's commitment to European production and traditional craftsmanship turns each design into a unique product. The finest and best leathers are exclusively used, preserving the pure and radiant aura of the products as much as possible. The evolution of Fred de la Bretoniere, from its humble beginnings to becoming a significant player in the world of fashion, is a testament to the power of quality craftsmanship and timeless design.
