Marc Jacobs to launch new affordable line

Marc Jacobs has announced a new label called 'The Marc Jacobs' which will debut with pre-fall 2019 collection.

According to Women's Wear Daily, it will be much more affordable and aimed at a younger target group. Little is known about the new line, but going by a recent photo from Marc Jacobs' Instagram account it could consist of unisex striped sweaters, corduroy trousers with wide legs and matching accessories. Jacobs also hired photographer Hugo Scot and Russian stylist Lotta Volkova for the brand's new lookbook. She previously worked with Demna Gvasalia on Vetements and Balenciaga.

This is not the first time that Marc Jacobs has launched an affordable line. In 2001 the American designer had launched 'Marc by Marc Jacobs' which was a line in the upper mid-price segment. However, it was eventually discontinued in 2015 following a lukewarm reception from enthusiasts.

Since leaving Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs has seen a slump in sales of his own label. Hopefully, the new, cheaper line, brings the label back on track.
