Paris Fashion Week to be held this Fall with Physical Live Shows

Paris Fashion Week will return in September with physical runway as well as online shows.

The Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), the governing body for the French fashion industry, announced that Paris Fashion Week for Women's Fashion will take place from Monday 28 September to Tuesday 6 October. It will comply with the recommendations of the public authorities for its implementation.

The announcement which was received with some surprise from many makes Paris the first of the Big Four fashion capitals - Paris, Milan, London, and New York - to hold physical runway shows for its Spring / Summer 2021 season. Likewise, Copenhagen announced that it's Fashion Week will take place with up to 34 brands showing their collections on August 9.

As Paris and Copenhagen continue as scheduled there are those who have chosen to have audience-free virtual shows. Christian Dior announced that it's Cruise 2021 Show will take place on July 22 in Puglia Italy. Likewise, Burberry also announced its return to the catwalk and will present its Spring / Summer 2021 collection on September 17 via a virtual show.

On the other hand, there are others such as Burberry, Givenchy, Dries Van Noten, Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors have opted to take themselves off the fashion calendar. Whether the live shows of Paris and Copenhagen will bear any resemblance to the Fashion shows of the pre-Corona virus season remains to be seen, but that's highly unlikely.
