Wendelien Daan is a Dutch photographer and visual artist whose work focuses on the relationship between people and their environment. Born in Rotterdam in 1971, she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague before moving to Amsterdam to pursue her career.

Daan's work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. She has also been featured in numerous publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Vogue.

Daan's photography often explores themes of identity and belonging. Her work often features people from different backgrounds interacting with their environment, creating a sense of community and connection. She also uses her photographs to explore issues of gender, race, class, and sexuality.

In addition to her photography, Daan is also an accomplished filmmaker. Her films have been shown at festivals around the world including Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. She has also directed several short films for television networks such as BBC Four and Arte France.

Daan is currently based in Amsterdam where she continues to create thought-provoking images that challenge our preconceived notions about identity and belonging.
