About

Tim Walker is an English fashion photographer who has been working in the industry since the early 1990s. He is known for his surreal, dreamlike images that often feature elaborate sets and costumes.

Walker was born in 1970 in Taunton, England. He studied photography at Exeter College of Art and Design before moving to London to pursue a career in fashion photography. His first major assignment was for British Vogue in 1993, and he has since gone on to work with many of the world's leading magazines, including Vogue, W Magazine, and Vanity Fair.

Walker's work is characterized by its whimsical nature and fantastical elements. He often uses elaborate sets and costumes to create surreal scenes that evoke a sense of wonderment and mystery. His photographs often feature models dressed as characters from literature or fairy tales, such as Alice in Wonderland or Snow White. He also frequently incorporates props such as giant flowers or oversized animals into his images.

In addition to his editorial work, Walker has also created campaigns for numerous fashion brands including Prada, Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. He has also directed several short films for Dior and collaborated with artists such as Björk and David Bowie on music videos. In 2010 he published a book of his photographs entitled "Pictures".

Walker continues to be one of the most influential photographers working today. His unique vision has earned him numerous awards including the International Center of Photography Infinity Award for Applied/Fashion/Advertising Photography (2009) and the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal (2011).
