Sya Groosman is a Dutch photographer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. She is known for her unique and captivating style of photography, which often combines elements of fashion, portraiture, and documentary photography.

Born in the Netherlands in 1988, Sya developed an interest in photography at a young age. She began taking pictures of her friends and family, as well as exploring the streets of Amsterdam to capture its unique atmosphere. After graduating from high school, she decided to pursue a career in photography and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

During her studies at the academy, Sya developed her own distinct style of photography that combines elements of fashion, portraiture, and documentary photography. Her work has been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue Italia, Elle Magazine Netherlands, and Glamour Magazine Netherlands. She has also exhibited her work at galleries around the world including the Foam Photography Museum in Amsterdam and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.

In addition to her photographic work, Sya is also an active member of several organizations that promote art and culture such as The Dutch Photographers Association (DPN) and The International Center for Photography (ICP). She is also a mentor for aspiring photographers through various workshops she offers around Europe.

Sya’s work has been recognized by numerous awards including the Foam Paul Huf Award for emerging photographers in 2017 and the Sony World Photography Awards for Professional Portrait category in 2018. Her work continues to be exhibited around the world while she continues to explore new ways to capture life through her lens.
