Somchai Kongpaisarn is a renowned Thai photographer who has been capturing the beauty of his homeland for over four decades. Born in Bangkok in 1954, Somchai developed an early interest in photography and began taking pictures of his family and friends at the age of 12. After graduating from high school, he attended the prestigious Chulalongkorn University where he studied photography and art.

In 1979, Somchai opened his own studio in Bangkok and began to focus on commercial photography. He quickly gained recognition for his unique style which combined traditional Thai elements with modern techniques. His work was featured in numerous magazines and exhibitions around the world, including the prestigious International Center of Photography in New York City.

In addition to his commercial work, Somchai has also dedicated much of his time to documenting the culture and people of Thailand. He has traveled extensively throughout the country, capturing its diverse landscapes and cultures through his lens. His photographs have been featured in several books, including “Thailand: A Photographic Journey” (2005) and “Thailand: A Visual Odyssey” (2008).

Somchai’s work has earned him numerous awards throughout his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand in 2011. He continues to be an active photographer today, capturing the beauty of Thailand for future generations to enjoy.
