Saskia Lawaks is a Dutch photographer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Lawaks was born in Amsterdam in 1985, and grew up surrounded by art and culture. She studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where she developed her own style of photography. After graduating, she began to work as a freelance photographer, shooting for magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Glamour, and Marie Claire.

Lawaks’ work has been exhibited around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Her photographs have also been featured in numerous publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and National Geographic.

In addition to her photography career, Lawaks is also an active member of the Dutch art community. She has served on the board of several organizations dedicated to promoting contemporary art in Holland. She is also a founding member of the Amsterdam-based collective “The Photographers’ Collective” which works to support emerging photographers from around the world.

Lawaks’ work continues to explore themes of identity and belonging through her unique vision of photography. Her photographs capture moments that are both intimate and universal; moments that speak to our shared humanity regardless of our differences.
