Raisa Azzam is an award-winning photographer and visual artist based in New York City. She has been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, and National Geographic.

Raisa was born in Damascus, Syria and moved to the United States at the age of 18. She studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and graduated with a BFA in Photography. After graduating, she began her career as a freelance photographer and has since worked with many notable clients such as Apple, Nike, and Adobe.

Raisa’s work focuses on capturing the beauty of everyday life through her lens. Her photographs often feature vibrant colors and unique perspectives that capture the essence of her subjects. She has traveled extensively throughout the world to capture stunning images from places like India, Morocco, and Cuba.

In addition to her photography work, Raisa is also an active member of the Syrian-American community in New York City. She is a founding member of the Syrian American Council for Arts & Culture (SACAC) which works to promote Syrian culture through art exhibitions and events.

Raisa’s work has been exhibited internationally at galleries such as The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and The Photographers’ Gallery in London. In 2018 she was awarded the prestigious Prix Pictet Award for her series “The Unseen” which documents life inside refugee camps around the world.

Raisa continues to use her photography to tell stories about people who are often overlooked or forgotten by society. Through her work she hopes to bring attention to issues such as displacement, poverty, and inequality that affect millions around the world every day.
