Mei Yuan Gui is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. Born in the city of Guangzhou in 1982, she graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2005 with a degree in photography.

Since then, Mei has become one of the most influential photographers in China, exhibiting her work at galleries and museums around the world. Her work often focuses on themes of identity, memory, and nostalgia, exploring how these concepts are shaped by her own experiences as a Chinese woman living in a rapidly changing society.

Mei's photographs have been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and TIME Magazine. She has also been awarded several prestigious awards including the Prix Pictet Award for Photography (2015) and the International Center of Photography Infinity Award for Art (2016).

In addition to her photography career, Mei is also an active member of the Beijing art scene. She is a founding member of the Beijing Photo Collective and has served as an advisor to several other art organizations. She is also an advocate for women's rights and gender equality in China.

Mei's work continues to be exhibited around the world and she remains an important voice within China's contemporary art scene.
