Frost's career began when he was hired as a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times in 2002. During his time there, he shot a variety of assignments including news stories, sports events, and celebrity portraits. His work quickly gained recognition and he was soon shooting for major magazines and advertising campaigns.

In 2006, Frost left the Times to pursue his own projects. He began working on short films and documentaries that explored themes of identity and belonging. His first feature-length documentary, "The Road to Nowhere," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. The film was critically acclaimed and won several awards including Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival.
