James T. Murray is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker based in New York City. He has been shooting professionally since the early 2000s, and his work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, National Geographic, and TIME Magazine.

James was born in 1979 in the small town of Poughkeepsie, New York. He developed an interest in photography at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager he was already experimenting with film cameras. After graduating from high school, James attended the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where he earned a degree in photography and filmmaking.

After college, James began working as a freelance photographer for various publications and companies. His work quickly gained recognition for its unique style and composition, which often focused on capturing everyday moments with an artistic eye. In 2008, James released his first book of photographs titled “The American Road” which showcased his travels across the United States. The book was met with critical acclaim and helped to further establish James’ reputation as one of the most talented photographers of his generation.

In recent years, James has continued to push himself creatively by exploring new mediums such as video and virtual reality. He has also become increasingly involved in philanthropic work, using his platform to raise awareness about important social issues such as poverty and climate change. In 2020, James was awarded the prestigious Lucie Award for Documentary Photography for his ongoing project “The Human Condition” which focuses on documenting life around the world during this unprecedented time of global crisis.

Today, James continues to travel around the world capturing stories that inspire him while also using his platform to bring attention to important causes that need our support.
