Hans Neumann was a German-born photographer who is best known for his work in the United States. He was born in Berlin in 1892 and moved to New York City in 1912. He began his career as a commercial photographer, working for various magazines and advertising agencies.

In the 1920s, Neumann began to focus on fine art photography, creating images of everyday life in New York City. His work was heavily influenced by the modernist movement of the time, and he often used abstract compositions and experimental techniques to create unique images. He also experimented with photomontage, combining multiple photographs into one image.

Neumann's work was exhibited widely throughout the United States and Europe during his lifetime, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He also published several books of his photographs, including "New York: A Photographic Journey" (1930) and "The World Through My Eyes" (1935).

Neumann died in New York City in 1965 at the age of 73. His legacy lives on through his photographs, which continue to be exhibited around the world today.
