Carlos Somonte is a Spanish photographer and filmmaker who has been working in the industry for over 20 years. He is best known for his work in feature films, documentaries, and commercials.

Born in Madrid, Spain, Carlos began his career as a photographer at the age of 16. After studying photography at the Escuela de Artes Visuales de Madrid, he went on to work as an assistant to renowned Spanish cinematographer José Luis Alcaine. During this time, Carlos developed his own unique style of photography that combined traditional techniques with modern technology.

In 2000, Carlos made his directorial debut with the short film "La Vida en una Noche," which won several awards at international film festivals. Since then, he has gone on to direct several feature films including "The Sea Inside" (2004), "Volver" (2006), and "The Skin I Live In" (2011). He has also directed numerous documentaries and commercials for major brands such as Nike and Coca-Cola.

Carlos' work has been recognized by numerous awards including two Goya Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Director for "The Sea Inside." He has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on "Volver."

Today, Carlos continues to work as a director and cinematographer on both feature films and commercials. His unique style of photography continues to captivate audiences around the world.
