About

Alexander Saladrigas is a Cuban-American photographer and visual artist based in Miami, Florida. He was born in Havana, Cuba in 1975 and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of nine.

Saladrigas began his career as a photographer in the early 2000s, working as an assistant to renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino. He quickly developed a unique style of photography that blended fashion and documentary elements, often featuring vibrant colors and bold compositions. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, and Vanity Fair.

In addition to his commercial work, Saladrigas has also created several personal projects that explore themes of identity and culture. His series “Cuban American” examines the experience of Cuban immigrants living in the United States through portraits of individuals from different generations. His project “The Color of Cuba” captures the vibrancy of Cuban culture through vivid images of everyday life on the island.

Saladrigas has exhibited his work internationally at galleries and museums including The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA), The Frost Art Museum at Florida International University (FIU), The Bronx Museum of Arts (BMA), The National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ), and The National Gallery of Cuba (NGC). He has also been awarded numerous grants from organizations such as The Knight Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, and The Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

In 2020, Saladrigas was named one of PDN’s 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch by Photo District News magazine. He continues to create powerful images that explore themes related to identity, culture, and social justice.
