Aleksandar Zaric is a Serbian photographer and visual artist based in Belgrade. He is best known for his unique style of photography, which combines elements of documentary and fine art.

Zaric was born in Belgrade in 1982 and began his career as a photographer in 2004. He studied photography at the University of Arts in Belgrade, where he graduated with a degree in photography and visual arts. After graduating, he worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers, including National Geographic Serbia, Elle Serbia, and Grazia Serbia.

In 2010, Zaric began to focus on his own personal projects, which often explore themes of identity and belonging. His work has been exhibited internationally at galleries such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna, and the Photographers’ Gallery in London. His photographs have also been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Vogue Italia.

Zaric’s work has won numerous awards including the Grand Prix at the International Photography Awards (IPA) in 2011 and the Grand Prix at the Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) in 2012. In 2013 he was named one of PDN’s 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch.

In addition to his photographic work, Zaric is also an active member of several organizations dedicated to promoting photography as an art form. He is a founding member of Fotografija Beograd (Photography Belgrade), an organization that promotes contemporary photography from Serbia through exhibitions and workshops; he is also a member of FotoKlub Beograd (Photo Club Belgrade), which organizes lectures on photography topics for its members.

Aleksandar Zaric continues to push boundaries with his unique vision for photography today. His work has been praised for its ability to capture moments that are both intimate and universal – moments that speak to us all regardless of our backgrounds or experiences.
