Model of the Week: Karolina Egersdorfova

Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Previously, we profiled Alexandra Steuer and this week we're turning our attention to Karolina Egersdorfova. With her bold features and striking gaze, the Pilsen native has been making waves in the fashion world since she made her exclusive runway debut for Saint Laurent at its Spring/Summer 2018 show in September (of that year). We caught with her to talk about her career so far, her passion for modeling and her plans for the future.

Have you always wanted to be a model? If not, what did you want to be growing up?
No, I haven't. I never really thought about it because I also didn't know much about the job. But I remember I dreamed about being a fashion designer, so it was still in the modeling/fashion industry. I was always into clothes and really loved drawing new pieces, especially dresses.

 

How were you scouted?
In a shopping mall. My agency had a casting there but I didn't know about it. I just went by with my friend and they ran up to me. It was such an coincidence and I guess I way just in the right place at a right time haha

 

Your first modeling job?
YSL show was my first real big job. I can say that it was the best moment in my life and I feel so lucky and forever grateful.

 

What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
The moment when I walk the runway. There is always so much hard work behind every show, but it is super worth it. Also having the opportunity to wear all these beautiful new designs is just amazing. And then of course visiting all these great places that I would probably never see without modeling is super exciting as well.

 

Is there anyone that you admire as a role model and why?
My mom. Inspiring, strong, helpful, hard-working and always nice.

 

What's been your biggest OMG moment to date?
YSL show..forever thankful

 

What is your dream shoot/campaign?
Perfume campaign. Chanel or Dior.. That's a dream.

 

Biggest lesson that modeling has taught you?
Don't let the criticism get to you. There is nothing wrong with you when you don't get the job. But I'm still learning that too.

 

What's the best life advice you've ever received?
There's no need to be perfect to inspire others. Let people get inspired by how you deal with your imperfections.

 

How do you stay in shape?
Eating well, drinking water, working out and walking a lot. And also not focusing on in that much. The less I worry about it, the better it is.

 

What do you think about fashion? What does it mean to you?
I love it. It's a huge part of my life and I've always been close to it since I was little. It is such a fun thing where everyone can express their feelings.

 

If you had to be head to tow in one designer brand for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Dior

 

How would you describe your style?
Kind of random actually. Also depends on where I'm going. At school you'll most likely see me in a sweatshirt and jeans. Otherwise I try to dress up more.

 

Denim or leather?
Denim!!

 

Heels or flats?
That depends.. but mostly flats (sneakers)

 

What is your guilty pleasure?
CHEESE PIZZA!!!!

 

When you're not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
Spend time with my hometown friends and family.

 

What are you working on now and what do you dream of happening in the future?
Currently final exams in school haha, so I dream about finally getting my High school done and then we will see...
