Model of the Week: Hayett McCarthy

Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Last week, we profiled German upcoming talent Louisa Roehr this week we decided to feature the talented Hayett Belarbi McCarthy.

Nationality: British
Agency: IMG Models
Instagram: hayettmccarthy

Who She Is: Born in Lyon and raised in London, the French Algerian and British model was scouted at a pub in London's Crouch End in 2015. Prior to her modeling career at 20, McCarthy worked a series of odd jobs to support herself while pursuing her interest in modeling. Not only is she a model but is also a DJ who interned at XL recordings and her music can be heard playing at Burberry and Marc Jacobs store openings. She also paints posters for gigs and musicians under the guise of Fideleartmusic and is a big bowling aficionado. She is also known for organizing concerts with emerging bands and running a series of underground techno and rock parties.

Career highlights: She has been the face of Burberry, starred in campaigns for Coach (lensed by Steven Meisel) and has walked for the likes of Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Vetements, Marni, Rodarte, and Jil Sander. In 2016 she stole the show when she walked for Burberry the day after David Bowie's death with her palms out, and 'Bowie' scrawled across her hands. Last year she walked in the Spring/Summer shows for Giambattista Valli, Givenchy, Zadig & Voltaire, and Altuzarra.

Why She's One To Watch: Having impressed the likes of Burberry (Christopher Bailey and its casting directors, Barbara Nicoli & Leila Ananna) to Vetements' Demna Gvasalia and Lotta Volkova, Hayett is sure to appear in more campaigns and editorials as well as walk on several runways in the future. It's only inevitable that we'll be seeing more of her this year as well.

Check out Hayett's profile here and check back next week to find out who our next 'Model of the Week' is.
