Model of the Week: Alica Kalk

Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Last week, we profiled Dutch beauty Steffi Soede this week we decided to feature the charming Alica Kalk. We caught up with her to talk about her career so far, future goals, and her favorite style.

Hometown: Hamburg

Have you always wanted to be a model? If not, what did you want to be growing up?
If I'm really honest - modeling was never something I wanted to do but when I got scouted it was such an interesting experience and I really wanted to try it. Now I am older - so I am working on my dream to become a teacher for primary school and I love to do modeling beside my studies.

How were you scouted?
I was on my way to the 'Dom' in Hamburg city with my friends. Then someone stopped me and invited me to a casting in her agency.

How would you describe yourself as a model in three words?
Kind, feminine and uncomplicated.

Your first modeling job?
My first job was in London for the ID Magazine. The theme of the shoot was inspired by the Olympic games. We were standing on a winner's rostrum with medals around our necks.

Is there anyone that you admire as a role model and why?
When I was younger, I fell in love with the movie 'The Princess Diaries' and since this moment I admire Anne Hathaway. She is such an inspiring and strong woman!

What's been your biggest OMG moment to date?
Yesterday I watched the children's film 'Coco'. It has such an amazing and touching plot. I cried at the end and I had a lot of OMG moments during this movie.

What's the best life advice you've ever received?
Do more of what makes you happy!

What does fashion mean to you?
With fashion, you can express yourself and tell other people more about you. That's what I really like about it.

Denim or leather?
For me - denim of course!

Heels or flats?
Usually, I wear sneakers due to the simple fact that they're more comfortable. For special occasions such as a musical or concerts, I love wearing heels.

Vintage or contemporary fashion?
I love the of a combination of both.

If you were an emoji, which would you be and why?
The one with the black glasses on and the 'rabbit teeth' - It represents me when I am at the university or when I just hanging around at home.

What are you working on now and what do you dream of happening in the future?
For now, my primary goal is to finish my studies.
