Y/Project Collaborates With Jean Paul Gaultier for a Second Time

Paris based label Y/Project has teamed up with Legendary French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier for a second ready-to-wear collaboration.

The collection follows on the success of last years collaboration which debuted during Haute Couture Spring Summer 2022 Fashion Week and reinvented the universe of the French house. This time around, the ready-to-wear line focuses heavily on prints playing with the illusion of garments and the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier Trompe l'oeil print.

A true ode to the Y2K trend, the capsule once again reimagines JPG's iconic back catalogue with women's and men's silhouettes such as mesh dresses, skin-grazing maxi and mini skirts, tops with 2D knit prints, jean jackets spliced with sailor shirts, wader jeans superimposed on narrow skirts, lacy lingerie floating on slip-dresses, T-shirts banded with a print of belt-encircled jeans and tailored coats that suggest a pair of briefs and bare legs.

Y/Project's Creative Director Glenn Martens who is also creative director at Diesel in Italy is a master of illusion. Having worked as a junior designer for Gaultier after graduating from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he is known for his avant-garde silhouettes, combining conceptual and inventive detailing with playful proportions and a witty take on historical references.

Priced between 320 euros for T-shirts and 1,290 euros for long, tailored jackets, the Jean Paul Gaultier x Y/Project collection is available now on Jean Paul Gaultier and Y/Project e-stores as well as select retailers.
