Taylor Swift Oozes Retro Glam In Wildest Dreams Music Video

Taylor Swift debuted the music video for her latest single "Wildest Dreams" during the Video Music Awards pre-show.

The nearly four-minute video is her most adult video yet with the 25-year-old Grammy winner sharing some steamy scenes with Scott Eastwood (son of Hollywood action icon, Clint Eastwood).

Directed by Swift's "Bad Blood" and "Blank Space" director, Joseph Kahn, the Sultry and Dreamy video follows the story of a 1950s Hollywood couple played by Swift and Eastwood who fall in love in an African Savannah during the golden age of cinema. However their love affair is doomed with their relationship deteriorating over time.

Shot in a variety of African national parks the video features shots of African wild animals including a lion (who bears an eerie resemblance to Cecil the slain lion), a giraffe, and a herd of zebras and elephants. Swift will be donating all of the proceeds from the video to the African Parks Foundation of America (APFA) to aid in their wild animal conservation efforts.

"We wanted to do something wildly different from anything we've ever done before," Swift said on the red carpet.

While the video has been praised for its tribute to the golden age of Hollywood and its glamour it has been heavily criticized from some media outlets for endorsing white colonialism in Africa. In response to the accusations director Joseph Kahn defended Swift in a statement saying that the video includes black people and was produced by a black woman and edited by a black man. "We collectively decided it would have been historically inaccurate to load the crew with more black actors as the video would have been accused of rewriting history. This video is set in the past by a crew set in the present," Kahn said.
