Olivier Rousteing designs stamp for French post office

Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing has been selected by France's postal service La Poste to design its annual collection of heart-shaped stamps.

Timed for release ahead of Valentine's Day, the limited-edition stamps marks La Poste's tradition of collaborating each year with a French artist to design for its annual program.

The designs this time are based on the decadent aesthetic of Balmain's creativity as seen in the house's ready-to-wear spring 2017 women's ready-to-wear collection: a pattern mixed in black and white, decorated with floral baroque ornamentation in green, pink and yellow.

Since 2000, La Post has collaborated with a number of renowned fashion designers and brands, including Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Chanel, Hermes and Lanvin. Last year's design came from Courreges's Artistic Directors Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant.

The Balmain design stamps will be available through French post offices and online on 23 January.
