Newsmaker Of The Week : Beyonce

Our Newsmaker this week is none other than megastar Beyonce.

Photographed by legendary Mario Testino in a cover story about her world domination, the 33-year-old "Halo" singer also makes history as the first black musician and the third black woman ever to cover the fashion bible's coveted September issue (832 pages, 4 pounds, 3 ounces). She joins Halle Berry (2010) and Naomi Campbell (1989) as the only three in the magazine's 123 year history.

This is the third Vogue cover for Beyonce who previously appeared in it twice namely, the March 2013 issue lensed by Patrick Demarchelier, and the April 2009 issue shot by Mario Testino.

While she has appeared on the covers and in lavish photo shoots for GQ, CR Fashion Book and T: The New York Times Style Magazine, what's interesting is that her photo spread in Vogue isn't accompanied by an interview. Instead it is accompanied by a short essay on her star quality by Margo Jefferson.

Beyonce is perhaps one of the few personalities whose level of stardom is unique and her reticence regarded as empowering. As an Interview subject with infamously high standards she hasn't given one in over a year and has managed to stamp her authority and power, while keeping her private life hidden from the media glare.

For more on Beyonce take a look at some pics from her Vogue shoot and check back next week to find out who our next Newsmaker is.
