Dior brings back the Iconic Saddle Bag

The Saddle Bag by Dior is back now.

The iconic bag made its comeback at Dior's Fall/Winter 2018-2019 show in Paris as part of a zeitgeist revival by Maria Grazia Chiuri. It was seen several times on the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week, along with the motif sweaters, patchwork jackets and crochet dresses dedicated to the student protests of 1986.

The reisued bag is a nod to the logomania trend, and comes in a colorful patchwork look, decorated with pearls and fringes. There is also a classic black version with the iconic Dior monogram in gold with boho straps. The bag is instantly recognizable with its bulbous, obliquely rounded shape, reminiscent of a saddle and the large D-brass buckle, which dangles like a stirrup on the bag.

The saddle bag was first designed by John Galliano in 1999 for Christian Dior. It became famous after it was used as an accessory by Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. When Galliano left the fashion house in 2011, the production of the Saddle Bag was discontinued.
