Chanel to launch Swim and Ski collections

Chanel will soon be launching a swim and ski capsule collection: skiwear Coco Neige and swimwear Coco Beach.

The two new lines will be added to the six collections that Karl Lagerfeld designs for the fashion house every year. According to Women's Wear Daily, the fashion designer came up with the idea when he was on holiday in Saint-Tropez, where he noticed that the Chanel store did not have a strong assortment of beach equipment.

The Coco Beach collection consists of bathing suits, bikinis, bandanas, denim pieces, bags, and espadrilles. The pieces are black, red and pink with the familiar double C-logo in white.

The ski collection will consist of quilted jackets, trousers, and hoodies with sewn-on camellias as well as lambskin boots and bags. Pieces of the line will be emblazoned with the Coco Neige logo. They will also be made available in ski resorts such as Courchevel, where Chanel has a temporary store during the winter months.

Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, said in an interview with WWD that the collections are made for the immediate needs of the customer and that Karl Lagerfeld uses as much energy in these mini-collections as in the normal collections.

The Chanel swimwear collection will be released in June of this year along with Chanel's 2018 Resort Collection, while the ski fashion collection will be available in in August simultaneously with the Autumn / Winter collections.
