Virginie Viard's first Chanel Metiers d'Art show is coming to London

Chanel has announced that it's Metiers d'Art show will be shown in London for the first time.

The show will mark the first Metiers d'Art Collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld's successor, Virginie Viard. It was presented in the Grand Palais in Paris last December to selected members of the press. Viard collection had reinterpretations of iconic Chanel designs onto the catwalk, including lots of tweed, suit suits, layers of chains and pearls.

Sofia Coppola was enlisted to design the elaborate set which transformed the Grand Palais into a magnified version of Coco Chanel's 31 rue Cambon apartment. Once again Old Billingsgate will also be transformed to mirror the iconic apartment. In addition to a larger-than-life set, British fashion lovers can enjoy the exceptional craftsmanship that the French fashion house is known for. Tickets for the show have not been announced yet.

The Metiers d'Art show was also slated to be held in Beijing in May. However, in light of the current coronavirus epidemic, Chanel has decided to postpone the show in the Chinese capital for now. 'Considering the current situation and following the guidance of Chinese authorities, Chanel has decided to postpone its project of a replica of the Paris ' 31 Rue Cambon 2019/20 Metiers d'Art collection in May in Beijing to a later and more appropriate moment,' the fashion house said in a statement.

Virginie Viard's Metiers d'Art Collection will be on show in London on June 4 at the Old Billingsgate.
