Longchamp to stage first fashion show at NYFW

Longchamp is heading to New York for its first official runway show.

The French accessory brand known for its Pliage bag will present its Spring / Summer 2019 collection at the New York Fashion Week on September 8th. The event will mark Longchamps 70th anniversary celebrations and its expansion to the United States where it is very popular. Recently, the brand opened a flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York City and has increasingly positioned itself as a fashion brand by expanding its Ready-to-Wear collections.

'We felt that this was the right time to take things to the next level and to set out our vision of the dynamic, cosmopolitan Longchamp woman,' creative director Sophie Delafontaine, the granddaughter of founder, Jean Cassegrain, told WWD of the reason why the brand choose New York. 'Longchamp has always acted on intuition and we'll continue to act on our intuition as we make decisions for future seasons.'

The Longchamp Spring / Summer 2019 collection will be available in approximately 340 stores worldwide.
