Lanvin names Bruno Sialelli as new creative director

Lanvin has appointed a new creative director.

The Frech Fashion house which was dormant for one season announced Bruno Sialelli as its creative director. The 31-year-old French designer will oversee both womenswear and menswear.

Sialelli has experience designing for both women and men. He previously worked as a designer of the men's line at fashion house Loewe under the direction of JW Anderson. Before that, he worked for Balenciaga with Nicholas Ghesqueiere and Alexander Wang, and with Acne Studios and Paco Rabanne as senior designer for women's clothing.

'I am delighted and honored to join Lanvin, a house founded by a visionary woman who, among the first French couturiers, dared to offer a global universe with a very wide field of expression,' Sialelli said in a press statement.

'His singular and very personal vision, his audacity, his culture, his energy and ability to build a strong creative team definitely convinced us,' Jean-Philippe Hecquet, Lanvin's new CEO said in a statement explaining why Sialelli is the perfect match for Lanvin.

Sialelli's appointment comes ten months after the departure of former designer Olivier Lapidus, who held the position as successor to Bouchra Jarrar for only eight months. Jarrar had succeeded Alber Elbaz who had left after 14 years leading to a period of unrest for the longest continuously run atelier in France. With Sialelli as new creative director, Lanvin now hopes to have a more stable period.
