H&M announces new designer collaboration with Johanna Ortiz

Less than a month after the release of its Giambattista Valli collection, Swedish fashion giant H&M has announced that its next collaboration will be with Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz.

Known for her colorful and flamboyant creations with exotic prints and feminist silhouettes Ortiz's designs are must-haves and have been sported by Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Alexa Chung, Jessica Biel, Olivia Palermo, and Sienna Miller.

The capsule which will be released as a four-piece pre-drop comprises of a tunic style, a minidress, a wrap number, and a tiered, floor-length silhouette in floral prints. The elegant creations which can be worn both during the day and in the evening were chosen by Ortiz from her recent collections - "Wild Roses", "Orchid Paradise", "Cacatua" and "Coquelicots" and invented new colors and silhouettes. In March 2020 a full collection will be released and will include not just dresses, but also separates and swimwear.

'The prints all stem from my obsession with flowers, palm trees and the beautiful colors that I see from my window when I wake up at home in Cali, Colombia (the capital of salsa),' Ortiz said in a press release. 'I'm most excited about the fact that I'm taking a bit of my design and a bit of Colombia and reaching a new audience of women.'

The H&M x Johanna Ortiz pre-collection will be available both online and in selected stores from Tuesday 3 December.
