Chanel will present its Cruise 2021 collection in Capri

Chanel is heading off to the Italian island of Capri for its 2020/21 Cruise collection.

The French fashion house is known for presenting its collections in paradise-like destinations such as Saint-Tropez, Singapore, Venice, Dubai, Seoul, and Havana. This time around for the new collection Virginie Viard, creative director of couture and ready-to-wear will draw inspiration from the jaw-dropping natural beauty of the charming Italian island off the coast of Naples.

The new collection will be Viard's second for Chanel since the passing of Karl Lagerfeld in February. It will also mark the first time since 2016 that the storied house has presented its collection outside of Paris, a move that it made to boost spirits and remind the world of the city's longstanding reputation as the mecca of the fashion world following the 2015 terror attacks.

'We are very happy to go to Italy, and even more so to go to Capri,' Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion and president of Chanel SAS, told WWD. 'It's a very inspiring place, very inspiring for Virginie Viard. We have a lovely cruise show in the works.'

Chanel's 2020/21 Cruise collection will be presented on May 7 next year.
