Amsterdam Fashion Week gets revamped

Amsterdam Fashion Week is being revamped again.

The semi-annual event that celebrates Dutch fashion through runway shows, presentations and events will have a different look for its spring edition which will take place in March 2019.

The spring edition will be called 'AFW Studio' and will offer a show program, with a focus on photography, art, and design. The event will also take place at a new location with the main spot being the Compagnietheater. The ground floor will be available for changing exhibitions while the top floor will be the site for fashion shows of young talents and established names. The programming will be rounded off by various talks.

Earlier this year, the autumn edition had also undergone a metamorphosis and was held at the Museumplein. 'By maintaining two concepts there is the freedom to respond to what is current,' said Danie Bles, owner of Amsterdam Fashion Week. 'I am also someone who loves diversity, I want to continue to surprise myself as well as others. The overarching goal for both editions remains to seek relevance and bring fashion closer to the public.'

The AFW Studio will take place from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 March 2019.
