Moncler launches retro-futuristic couture collection with Richard Quinn

Moncler has teamed up with Richard Quinn for a futuristic couture collection.

This is the second collaboration between the Italian high-end sports and fashion label and the British designer aka master of print for its Moncler Genius creative platform.

First unveiled during the Milan Fashion Week Fall / Winter 2020 just before the lockdown, the collection was inspired by the 60s futurism vibe such as Stanley Kubrick's 2001: a space odyssey and London icons like Twiggy. Quinn effortlessly combines his eclectic signature with unexpected couture silhouettes and the technical qualities of Moncler's gear.

Combining his sensibility with the tradition and heritage of Moncler, the looks in the collection comprise of a faux fur floral coat called Donyale, matching leggings, a long-sleeved T-shirt and a tote. The looks are retro and bold and vary between psychedelic to 3-D prints while the shapes and elements feature faux fur and nylon laque.

'Moncler is a powerhouse of craft and innovation in its field, so we really wanted to explore the techniques you can achieve with [the house's expertise]. [Alongside] the all over prints and clashing prints, we wanted to add a dark/sexy textile, so we introduced latex. It was trying to strike a balance of a very focussed and bold vision, while being quite modern yet feminine,' the designer said of his collaboration and the collection.

The Moncler 8 Richard Quinn collection is available worldwide on its webshop.
