Argentina's fashion model "numero uno" is one of the most recognizable and sought-after models in the world, appearing in campaigns for Burberry, Ungaro, Armani, John Richmond, Roberto Cavalli or Victoria's Secret, just to mention a few.
Her beautiful face has also graced the covers of Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Vogue and as a consequence she has made it into the Top100 of the upcoming IFDAQ ranking.
Daniela Urzi’s status as a supermodel has not come as a big surprise to those who know her best. Apart from her striking looks, she has always possessed the necessary professionalism and charisma to master such a fabolous career.
While the 5’10” Argentine beauty loves the opportunity to travel and being able to work with big names of the fashion industry, she also admitted there is a down side to being an in-demand supermodel...

How did you get started in the modeling business?
Daniela: I was first approached in Punta del Este Uruguay, while I was spending my summer holidays with my family. I had had some offers before, but my parents thought I was too young. I started at 16....

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?
Daniela: No. It was something that never crossed my mind when I was a young girl. I liked sports very much and wanted to become a gymnastic teacher. .

What do you like most about modeling? What do you like least?
Daniela: I love my job, being able to work with the big names of the fashion industry, being an inspiration for a designer, travelling, having got to known places that I never even imagined.
What I don’t like about it is that I get to spend a long time without seeing my family and being on my own. I miss them!

Have you encountered any surprises along the way?
Daniela: I think the only surprise was that I started realizing which people really love me for how I am and not for who I am.

Have you developed any new interests since you started modeling?
Daniela: Yes! I love designing. I just finished the plans for my own line of furniture. I am very excited about it. And I think that my job is responsible for discovering this talent.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?
Daniela: When I am not working, I paint and draw a lot. I am putting together a small collection of paintings.

Out of all the places your career has taken you, where was the most memorable?
Daniela: The most memorable place where my work has taken me… It has to be Tulum in Mexico. I did the global campaign for Rolex, for which I had to be under water in a cenote. Before being able to do so, I had to take a diving course and get rid of my fear for water.
When I was a girl, I always had a lot of respect and fear for water, so having done this campaign, which is one of the most important ones in the world, at a personal level I had to overcome this fear.

Do you have a mentor? Who? What is it about them that affects you? Why?
Daniela: I don’t have and never had a mentor. Believing in myself, being patient, having strength and perseverance. That’s what keeps me working and travelling…

Where do you see yourself in ten years? What could be your next career?
Daniela: If God wants to, I see myself in the future with a magnificent family, being successful in something that has to do with my creative side.
With furniture, interior design, painting. Obviously, I don’t know, hopefully with everything.

What are your best beauty secrets? How do you stay in shape?
Daniela: I don’t have too many beauty secrets. It is important to take care of your skin when being exposed to the sun. I do one or two facials a year, I use Roche-Posay crème.
I protect my hair from the sun with Aveda brilliant damage control. I use conditioner Kerastase and ‘lino’ oil for the points.
Physically, I try to do aerobics three or four times a week...

What would you want people to know about you?
Daniela: I want people to know that I am still the same girl that came from San Fernando (my hometown).

Any advice for new models? What advice would you give other models starting out?
Daniela: What advice I would give to new models? First of all they have to think if they really want to do that job. If they decide they want to, then they should absolutely go for it.
The most important thing is that they remain their selves. Even if things go very well, never lose touch of who they are by being carried away.
The people they have around them won’t like it. And besides that, show happiness every day, over and over again, for having such an opportunity.

Favourite all-time model:
Daniela: Kate Moss

Favourite fashion designer:
Daniela: Diego Binetti, an argentine designer who lives in New York. I love his outfits.

Favourite kind of food:
Daniela: Meat milanes home made (by my Mom!!)

What are your favorite 3 songs at the moment?
Daniela: angel gabriel, lamb ; viento, hamacas al rio ; amor gitano, beyonce

Favourite quote:
Daniela: “Life is what happens to you while your are busy making other plans” (John Lennon)

I'd like to know:
Daniela: I would like to get to know Koreo or Australia.

If I were trapped on an island I'd take:
Daniela: If I were trapped on an island, I’d take along my husband…

Thank you Daniela for this interview!
Special thanks to Rosario and Rebel Management.
