Rock and Republic
Rock & Republic is an American jeans brand founded by fashion mogul Michael Ball in 2002. Rock & Republic began with a single, now legendary pair of jeans and in just a few short years, Ball has transformed Rock & Republic into the most successful luxury denim brand in the world and a dominant player in the premium luxe lifestyle market.
Good friend Andrea Bernholtz serves as the company's president. Prior to starting the company, Ball was an avid cyclist who gained design experience by creating his cycling team's uniforms.
Rock & Republic is well known for "VB Rocks", a line of "bum"-flattering jeans and casual wear designed by singer Victoria Beckham.
Although best known for its high-end denim wear, Rock & Republic's features clothing lines for men, women and children, including maternity wear, shoes and recent introductions of eye wear, handbags and cosmetics. As a sign of the times, Rock & Republic has created a recession line of more humbly priced denim. They have also introduced a Plain Wrap collection of basics tees, jeans, and leggings with no frills but with white letter blocking on each article.
Rock & Republic merchandise is carried in Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Holt Renfrew, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Von Maur, and Zappos.com, as well as small boutiques, such as Len Druskin and Stanley Korshak. There are currently two freestanding Rock & Republic retail boutiques at the Wynn in Las Vegas and on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The company sponsors a professional cycling team named Rock Racing, which is noted for its constantly changing team kit as well as its Cadillac Escalade team car.
On April 1st, Rock & Republic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Rock & Republic means edgy, progressive design inspired by Rock & Roll and with an emphasis on modern silhouettes and a sleek fit. Each piece in the collection is designed for sexy, confident men and women who live the lifestyle and really understand the look.
