history

In 1972, Jack Cynamon and Alan Green, two tailors from the East End of London, started in business together making clothes. Their skills and strength in clothing design and production resulted in a series of successful womenswear collections. In 1977 they created a range of co-ordinated fashion for the discerning woman. Combining their names and adding a French twist, the Jacques Vert brand was born and shortly afterwards became a public company.

The company, expanded into a multi-branded fashion-retailing group in December 2002 with the acquisition of William Baird Plc, which added three further womenswear labels – Planet, Precis and Windsmoor, plus a large garment manufacturer in Sri Lanka.
