Cosmic Wonder was founded by Japanese designer Yukinori Maeda in 1999.

Since its debut collection in 2000 at the Centre Pompidou, Paris Fashion Week had been the principal forum for presenting the works of Cosmic Wonder. 2007, however, marks a widening of focus for Cosmic Wonder and a renewed exploration of installation and performance in art related venues around the world.

In 2007 Yukinori divided his work into three different branches: Cosmic Wonder Light Source--the clothing line for men and women; Cosmic Wonder--fashion installations, performances and other presentations; and Yukinori Maeda--all other artistic pursuits.
