Established in 1986 as a design workshop and in 1990 as a retail group, Blanc de Chine seeks to create depth in design through cultural inspirations from the East. The Group was the first to more seriously interpret the philosophies of Buddhism and Taoism to produce authentic, updated Chinese lifestyle design. Interpretations of the qipao, mian ao, chang pao, also known as the scholars robe, are groundbreaking in their elegance and luxurious quality.

Blanc de Chine, literally meaning "White of China" is a term created by 18th century French connoisseurs reflecting admiration for the exquisite purity of Chinese white porcelain originating from Fujian province.
