Reto Schmid is a Swiss photographer and filmmaker based in Zurich. He has been working in the field of photography for over 20 years, specializing in documentary, portrait, and landscape photography.

Reto was born in Zurich in 1971 and grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Swiss Alps. From an early age, he was drawn to the power of photography to capture moments and tell stories. After completing his studies at the University of Zurich, he began his career as a freelance photographer.

Since then, Reto has traveled extensively throughout Europe and beyond, capturing stunning images of landscapes, people, and cultures. His work has been featured in numerous publications including National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, GEO Magazine, Stern Magazine, and many more. He has also exhibited his work at galleries around the world including the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and the Fotomuseum Winterthur.

In addition to his photographic work, Reto is also an accomplished filmmaker. He has directed several short films that have been screened at festivals around the world including Cannes Film Festival and Berlinale International Film Festival. His films explore themes such as identity, memory, and belonging with a unique visual style that combines documentary footage with poetic imagery.
