Miranda Penn Turin is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker based in New York City. She is best known for her documentary work, which has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and National Geographic.

Turin was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in a creative family. Her father was a professional photographer and her mother was an artist. From a young age, Turin was exposed to the world of photography and art. She developed an early passion for the medium and began taking pictures at the age of 12.

Turin attended the University of Southern California where she earned a degree in film production. After graduating, she moved to New York City to pursue her career as a photographer and filmmaker. She quickly established herself as one of the city’s most sought-after photographers, shooting for clients such as Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar.

In addition to her commercial work, Turin has also produced several documentary films that have been screened at festivals around the world. Her first feature-length documentary “The Price of Freedom” won numerous awards including Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011. Her other films include “The Lost Boys of Sudan” (2013) and “The Uncondemned” (2015).

Turin has also written two books on photography: “Miranda Penn Turin: A Life Through Pictures” (2014) and “The Art of Seeing: A Photographer’s Guide to Capturing Life” (2016). In 2017 she was awarded the Lucie Award for Achievement in Documentary Photography.

Today Turin continues to work as a photographer and filmmaker while also teaching workshops on photography around the world. She is passionate about using her art to tell stories that inspire change and create meaningful connections between people from different backgrounds.
