Luca Guadagnino is an Italian filmmaker and photographer who has been making waves in the film industry since the early 2000s. He is best known for his critically acclaimed films Call Me by Your Name (2017) and Suspiria (2018).

Born in Palermo, Italy in 1971, Guadagnino developed an interest in film at a young age. He studied at the University of Milan, where he earned a degree in philosophy. After graduating, he moved to Rome to pursue a career in filmmaking.

In 2002, Guadagnino made his directorial debut with The Protagonists, which won him several awards at international film festivals. This was followed by his second feature film Melissa P. (2005), which was also well-received by critics.

In 2009, Guadagnino directed I Am Love, which starred Tilda Swinton and earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. His next project was A Bigger Splash (2015), which starred Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson and was nominated for several awards including the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Guadagnino's most recent work includes Call Me by Your Name (2017) and Suspiria (2018). Both films were met with critical acclaim and earned him numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Call Me by Your Name.
